Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Our Company is one of North America's largest architectural glass & aluminum fabricators and distributors, with many locations nationwide. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor with a “hands-on” approach performing scheduled/non-scheduled maintenance, to oversee and coordinate the Maintenance staff responsible evaluating problematic electrical/hydraulic industrial machines and facilities to determine what installation or repair services need to be performed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong troubleshooting ability of glass cutting/fabricating equipment, tempering ovens,  and PLCs is required.
  • Strong knowledge and abilities for repair of, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, equipment and tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Experience with spending majority of their time on the manufacturing floor. This is not a manage-via-the-office position.
  • Frequent/regular heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Work with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, and updating older equipment.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to maintenance staff in all aspects of their work to ensure that all maintenance activities in a facility are appropriately carried out.
  • Maintaining and upholding the quality and standards of the organization.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Keeping a record of all maintenance and service activities conducted and maintaining a cycle of the same.
  • Ensuring proper working shifts of employees.
  • Interacting with other departments to ensure the proper functioning of all systems in a facility.
  • Complying with all safety regulations set by the industry.
  • Delegating work to subordinates and ensuring the timely completion of the same.
  • Filing purchase orders and other documentations for the procurement of spare and replacement parts.
  • Maintain 24/5 (and some weekends) plant manufacturing operations.

Skills and Specifications

  • Five or more years’ supervisory experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance.
  • Promote and oversee all safety programs including lockout/tag-out procedures and have a demonstrated understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
  • Should have good leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate team members.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment including steel-toed shoes, goggles, earplugs, gloves and pullover in an environment which can be cold/hot, humid and/or dusty.
